Welcome To Illinois Divorce Navigator
Step 1: Petition & Response
Start or complete your first divorce forms, the Petition or the Response. The Petitioner files the first forms in the divorce, and the Respondent answers a Petition.
In this step, you will be giving basic details about yourself, family and general requests - the final terms of your divorce will be decided in Step 3.
Step 2: Financial Affidavit
This step does not divide anything, but gives you and your spouse each others' financial information to help determine how assets should be divided.
This step is only required if 1) temporary support, temporary maintenance, or interim attorney fees are being requested in your divorce, or 2) the court has requested you complete it.
Step 3: Agreement & Final Decree
This is the final step in your divorce, where you and your spouse will decide how to divide your assets and child custody fairly.
If you need help with this step, we have mediators, attorneys or financial planners available at a flat hourly rate.
